Food in Core Keeper has two main purposes – keeping you alive by restoring HP and reducing hunger and giving you helpful perks like extra armor or the ability to glow.

Which isn't to say there aren't genuinely spooky areas and scary moments. There are ominous, off-screen sounds when you get close to one of Core Keeper's bosses. Breaking through a wall and suddenly seeing you're at the edge of a massive chasm is alarming, and building a narrow bridge across it doesn't feel comfy at all (even though you can't actually fall in).

Your next step will be to place a Bed. Aside from giving you a spawn point, a Bed can be used to rest and restore your health over a few seconds. If you don't have a Core Keeper Gameplay Bed set at your spawn point, you'll respawn at the Core if you die.
At least I managed to swing my sword and not a pudding this time. But afterwards I ran back home through brightly lit tunnels as fast as my little legs could take me, and now I'm cooking up some glowing larvae steaks.
Soul of Ra-Akar. Once a power is collected, the boss's sigil is added to the Souls tab of the character screen. Each sigil can be clicked to toggle that ability on or off.
